For beginners, don’t double layer your socks because of the cold snow. If you wear multiple layers of socks you can cause your feet to overheat. This can cause you to blister and your feet may begin to feel stiff. Find a good pair of socks that you can wear to keep you warm and suppose your heel.

Ski boots can be tricky to get in the first try. You want to know how it's fitting your feet. Begin by making sure it’s tight around your feet but not to the point of your feet completely crushed by the boots. You want to buckle your feet to make sure it’s secure, but not tight to the point of suffocation.

For ski poles, they will come with a strap so you want to make sure that your hand properly fits into the handle. When you slide down the hill the last thing you want is your wrist letting go. As you also put on your skis focus on laying it parallel across the flat part of the slope. You want to make sure that you have no snow on your skis and that your toe is aligned with the binding. 

Snow Plow Until You Feel Confident

The idea of snow plowing is when you widen your legs and begin to push the skis close together. It’s a simple step that you want to perfect before hitting the big slopes. You want to feel confident because once you learn how to turn into different directions you’ll begin to lean your body down the slope.

Be Patient with Yourself and Your Progress

At the beginning, it can seem very frustrating to continue to do something when you don’t see a lot of improvement. You might have a great first try and make lots of mistakes afterwards. It’s ok because everyone, in the beginning, will encounter these downfalls. 

With any new activity, you’ll encounter your fair shares of ups and downs. The important part is maintaining patience throughout your process. Do not be discouraged because everyone who is a beginner will be on the same page as you. Slowly as you learn new skills you can ski and join all your friends on the slopes.

Find a Beginner-friendly Ski Area

When you go with a group of your friends it can seem intimidating to try and catch up with them. Honestly, the first few times will be stressful but try to find a place that isn’t occupied with too many people.

Don’t feel rushed to jump into the intermediate or advance slopes. Just stick to your level and work on perfecting the beginner area first. You want to stick to a place that has hills but isn’t too steep or rocky. Once you navigate your ski area and feel confident enough you can ask your instructor to teach you new tricks.

Take a Break and Do Other Fun Activities in the Snow

Since skiing requires your body to be in action mode the whole time you can find yourself feeling overwhelmed. At the end of the day, your body can go into over-exhaustion. You want to avoid this because it can lead to an unexpected cold or fatigue.

You can go sledding with your friends or take a long lunch break with a sip of your favorite hot chocolate. You can also participate in an epic snowball fight with your friends. The more you take little breaks the more you can enjoy skiing without the pressure of overworking your joints. If you have learned how to wax skies, you can use your time in the cabin to prepare better for the next day in the snow. It's also useful to get to know ski terms.

Pack the Right Stuff

Before you begin to pack all your ski equipment you want to purchase a durable bag that you can put all your stuff in from your ski trip packing list. For extra warmth pack a ski jacket that can easily be on top of your baselayers. You want to also have sturdy boots and warm gloves to protect your hands and feet.

If you find your face getting cold a mask and goggles are recommended because too much exposure to the cold can have your skin feeling extremely dry. To further prevent skin damage make sure you have high SPF moisturizer. Firstly, you want to have best all mountain skis or best powder skis packed nice and tight in a ski bag. Then add other items in a way that will keep the skis secure.
If going by plane, check the baggage restrictions so you don't get a no-can-do at the airport.
